Trip to London!!

Morning people!

I know many people have been to London before and I believe one day this blog will be filled up with posts about London-UK-Europe and so on. Obviously because we’re nearer to Europe rather than Asia. While we are so near, let’s grab the chance babe! I’ll try to make this simple and informal hence apologize for my ‘rojak’ language. So, shall we start?

19th Jan 2012

London here I comeee! I brought my 3 gorgeous friends with me, it wouldn’t be so much fun travelling alone I guess. So, we set out at the noon, taking the sariyyah bus to Queen Alia Airport. Well, you can just ride on rented MPV but there were just 4 of us, shouldn’t be a problem. Everything went smoothly from arriving at the airport till we safely took off by the plane. We’re in the easyJet flight, because we are students and we couldn’t afford more. Haha! easyJet was the cheapest and still is I think.  Not to mention what a tiring journey we had in the plane, considering it’s quite sempit and no in-flight entertainment. So, silalah bawa your iphone, ipad, and segala mcm i. And also bring some snacks. Flight to London Gatwick will take at most 5 hours.

You know when you see orange, it's always Easyjet =)

We arrived at the London Gatwick Airport around midnight. We’re greeted by my sister who were studying there yet she had finished her studies already. Then, from there, we took a cab to her house in central London. Fortunately, this is such a saving! Tak payah nak bayar for accommodation. We stayed for free=)

20  Jan  2012

We woke up a little bit late today as we didn’t have enough sleep last night. So, first thing first, breakfast is important! Usually, we just peek-a-boo kat tesco kejap as it is near to the house. So, grabbed some chocs and biscuits to munch on our way enjoying the day. Then, we took a tube to Baker Street station. Oh yes, our house is at High Street Kensington. If you want to know more about the bus and tube route you can browse to this link : www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround. Tell you what, transportation kat UK memang mahal and so, please manage your budget wisely. Either you wanna stay long in London or you travel less, Oyster Card is usually preferable. We got off at Baker Street and headed straight away to Madame Tussauds. It’s kind of wax museum where you can take pictures with famous people around the world. Although they’re made from wax, they look real, trust me!

Then, we took the chance to go Sherlock Holmes’ Museum exactly at Baker Street cross the Madame Thussauds. It’s not THAT big to be called a museum but it is somehow, it’s just like another typical house in London street. Nothing much in there except for Holmes’ equipments and all. During winter, all the shops will be closed around 8pm. Not all maybe but few yang besar2. Don’t worry, restaurants are still open .So, by the time we finished getting around the Sherlock Holmes’ Museum, it was nearly dark although it was just 4pm and we decided to have our dinner at Tinseltown American Diner, somewhere in Bayswater. The milkshakes were superb! Gonna have to try again, definitely! It’s a certified halal restaurant. No worries mate! Full, we headed home in bus number 27 to High St Kensington.

21 Jan 2012

We woke up early today. Guys, remember to set your mind! Jalan waktu winter, you HAVE to be early! Or else you’ll miss the chance to get into most of the places. Places of interest usually close at 5pm and last entrance is at 4pm. Today we decided to go shopping! Well, typical girls. HAHA. Firstly we go to Portobello Market. You can take the tube and turun dekat Notting Hill Gate Station and just follow the crowd. The crowd is heading to Portobello Market, no doubt! For first impression, Portobello Market ni jual a lot of antiques. I don’t even really interested in antiques but wheyy! They really look good and you’ll be thinking of buying some =p. and there’re lots of stall selling food like churros, falafel, pita breads and fruits. This is a place where you can find second hand items at satisfying quality and affordable. I like it!

Next destination: Oxford Street! This place is full with branded shops which we also couldn’t afford that we only windowshop. Do you know we can get to Oxford Street through Portobello Market and that’s what we did. But if you don’t know how, you’d better ask someone or it’s easier to get into main road first and then take tube or bus to Oxford Street. Well, I know we’re not really into this but I just want to let you know that Bond Street and Sloane Square are another 2 places meant for shopaholics which have long been fashionable shopping street.

Done with shopping, we go and grab our dinner! Tonight we went to Malaysian Hall! Since it’s not far enough for us to take a tube (you wouldn’t want to waste your 2 pound to get to a walking distance place) we just walked from Bond street to Bayswater. MMM,,AAAhhhh!! It’s so good to eat Malaysian food once again! Well, I don’t mind to pay a little bit more for those scrumptious food. Or was it just me? But where else can you get Pasembur or Laksa? Unless you make it yourself. Oh yes, for your information, the restaurant is at the basement. Find Malaysia flag and there you are! And they provide accommodation as well but I think you have to make a book first. I’m not sure about the rates.

We wandered for quite some time in Bayswater, going in and out souvenir shops (tak cukup2 lagi beli dekat Portobello =p) because Bayswater pon has quite a lot of souvenir shops. Anf by the way, dekat Bayswater ada banyaaakk halal restaurants and variety of food, from Chinese to Middle Eastern.

Tired yet happy, we headed home as it was getting late. Sweet dreams again!

22nd Jan 2012

Alhamdulillah, we’re still be given the chance to live in this world and explore it. So, today, we made our first step to Science Museum at Exhibition Road, South Kensington. It’s just a walking distance from Imperial College London. Before that, as usual we stepped into Tesco for a while and grabbed this delicious blueberry muffin and some chocolates. HAHA. Ok then, it’s just about 15 minutes walking to South Kensington from our place. Actually, we’re not so interested in museums but our principle (not really a principle, just a conscience. LOL) is we need to gain knowledge wherever we go and not just have fun! So, we went round and explore and round again and oh! There’s one section where we can play and try the games, you know like Petrosains in Malaysia? It was exactly like that! And they were fun!

We spent few hours there and unfortunately our tummies started to make sounds. HAHA. We need food!! Quickly we got out from the museum and head straight to a halal Chinese restaurant at Thurloe Street, Sth Ken. Its name is Chopstix and I think they have franchises over the world. I think I found one in Jakarta but you can reconfirm it =) It cost us GBP7.50 for a big box of mee and fried rice. It’s like ‘pick and mix’. I would like to remind you that London is not like Jordan where you can have a bunch of food for only JD1, at least you get to spend GBP5 for the same amount of food as JD1, unless you have only muffins from Tesco.
We’re full already! It meant we’d recharged our energy to  make a move to &M’s World! We took a tube and stop at Piccadilly Circus and walked a little bit to Leicester Square before we found a huge Mr. M&M. So cuteee!! Suddenly I felt like eating m&m. HAHA. Oh they sell a lot of m&m chocolates, shirts, soft toys and lots more. There’s no single word to describe when you’re surrounded by chocolatessss!! Or maybe it’s just me because I love chocs =p What a pleasure! Oh yes, we shaked hands with Mr. M&M but there were just too many people that we couldn’t take photos together=( Never mind that, I can always eat them whenever I want.

It was around 5 o’clock when we got out from M&M’s World. We walked to Trafalgar Square. It is a famous historical place, you know. Well, I’m not gonna story-morey about the history or I won’t finish for 3 days and 2 nights. Right! By the way, there was used to be friends of pigeon which you can feed them, but it was years ago. I don’t know where did they go today. So, we just took pictures because they have this new LED fountain. It’s gorgeous I would say, especially during the night.

Actually, we didn’t plan anything for tonight when suddenly I came across a stall selling theatre tickets and PAP! I got this one brilliant idea! Let’s watch a theatre! And concidently, we’re near to the theatre, somewhere around Piccadilly Circus I think. The ticket price varies according to your seat, from GBP27 – GBP 100++. Obviously we couldn’t afford the GBP100. The seats are in the boxes and you will have the clearest view from up there. By the way, it’s our first time watching a theatre and we got very excited that we forgot about dinner! No worries, we can eat after that, anything for The Phantom of the Opera =)
The theatre was superb! We looveeedd it! The play took about 3 hours. Unfortunately, we’re not allowed to take photos inside the theatre. Sorry I couldn’t help much in convincing you how good the theatre was. Hope you can try and enjoy it yourself one day! It was such a tiring day therefore we took our last tube to back home. Home sweet home~
23rd Jan 2012

We woke up late today, trying to compensate segala penat lelah semalam. So actually we made our move after Zuhur prayer and lunch at home.Chillll!! It was very cold that day and I thought my winter coat is enough to cover me but I was wrong. Ok, our first destination was Tower Bridge! People sometimes mistaken Tower Bridge as London Bridge but actually they are 2 different places. We took the tube and stop at Tower Hill and easily from there you can see the signs showing direction to Tower Bridge. As we arrived there, however we didn’t plan to get in. I don’t quite remember why we didn’t, so sorry. We just took photos from outside. Maybe you can go someday and tell me what’s in there.

Next destination was Buckingham Palace. The nearest tube station is Victoria and there are no transportations cross the palace itself. Most people come to the palace for ‘changing of the guard’. You know, the guards wearing red uniform? They have their own schedule but unfortunately the time we arrived, it’s no longer be held. You can check in the internet for the schedule. In the front of the palace, there are pillars and one of the pillars craved ‘MALAY STATE’. I don’t know what the pillars for but I think they are under Britain’s colonies one time ago. It’s almost dusk and the lighting from the palace was fabulous! Time for snap pics!

So,that’s the end of the story, wishing these wonderful moments never fade away. Trying to cherish every moment of life from now!Hope the same for you =) Happy holiday!
